Analyzing Radar Images
Here's a step by step outline
of how the DTD program can analyze the storm cells in a radar image
using the VIP Analyzer Feature

1.
Let DTD run continuously either
in full screen mode
IMPORTANT NOTE: DTD
must have a Radar image that is in PRECIP mode in
order for the Analyzer to work. This feature is disabled
when the radar is running in Clear Air Mode.

2.
When the radar is operating
in PRECIP MODE ...DTD displays a checkbox in the upper left
of the main program window labled ANALYZE. |

Click the checkbox to turn on
the VIP Analyzer |

You'll see the DesktopDoppler
VIP Analyzer Window popup. Its currently not showing any
color on the far left. |

5.
Move your cursor over an area
of precipitation. Then left click once to have the VIP Analyzer
display the color, the Reflectivity Level in decibels, the VIP
color number, and the likely precipitation that is occurring
as represented by the color. You can click on many areas of
the screen to repeatedly analyze different storm areas.
You can also
reposition the VIP Analyzer box by dragging it using the
title bar if you wish. |

6.
When you are done, click the
checkbox again to turn OFF the VIP Analyzer |
